Louise Colbourne who leads the University of Brighton’s graphics postgraduate degree has co-created a lush visual celebration of Pulp’s sixth album, This Is Hardcore, featuring unseen photography, behind-the-scenes interviews and visuals.
Animations created by students from BA(Hons) Illustration will have a nationwide audience tonight (Friday 31 March) when they are shown as part of the final of the BBC’s Great British Menu. Read More

A new exhibition of work (open until 15 October) by little-known painter Lynch at the Brighton Centre for Contemporary Arts, based at the University of Brighton’s Grand Parade building, has been given a rave review by the Guardian. Read More
The exhibition, titled Design Matters, will feature objects chosen by 14 MA and PhD students which they consider to be particularly ingenious examples of design. These objects could be made by the students or something of historical, social or cultural significance. Read More

The Graphic Brighton festival returns with two days of talks and workshops on 27-28 May – including the debut of Michael Rosen’s new graphic novel.
“Being surrounded by like-minded people was a beautiful experience. The course helped me to understand various methods of developing my work – from traditional to digital processes – via diverse workshops and briefs. My time spent at Brighton has really helped me to find what I’m really interested in when it comes to graphic design.”

Three students (Olivia Gallichan, Anna Mika and Naomi Ross-Mason) recently worked with the University of Brighton Outreach team on Photography Club, a nine-week initiative run with Photoworks and artist Lindsey Smith which enables young people to meet regularly, develop their camera skills alongside a professional photographer, produce photography and gain an Arts Award qualification. I’m heavily influenced by the Bauhaus idea of constant development and enjoy learning new skills, software and technology.
I am a conceptual designer that investigates environmental and societal issues to motivate positive change.
My work is centred around creating narratives and story-telling, heavily influenced by my obsession with collecting found objects and ephemera.
My work is a very illustrative form of graphic design, I use my experience with illustration to help me coordinate my graphic communication process, whether it be a focus on branding, concept or visual identity.
A lot of my work has a strong focus on process, I enjoy working in an analogue style and physically creating something as opposed to just working digitally.
