Useful information re. attendance and hours
Attendance Record: RNDAs must keep a clear and up to date record of their Off the Job (OTJ) hours, this include time spend attending University sessions, placement and paid independent study. Those hours are recorded on the EPAD as follow:
Placement hours – should be recoded using the NMC part o the EPAD, those hours will be added to the NMC practice wheel. For more information regarding placement attendance and please review the BSc Nursing Practice attendance guidance
University sessions and paid independent study time – should be recorded using the Apprenticeship part of the EPAD, when recording those hours, RNDAs must include a brief description of what they have done or achieved during the session or during the independent study.
Break in Learning
A break in learning is an authorized, temporary halt in an apprenticeship for reasons like medical issues, parental leave, or any other extenuating personal reason, with the intention to resume later. The break in learning is triggered typically if an apprentice does not attend the course for 4 weeks. Apprentices must not use this to “catch up” on learning and must apply for the break by discussing it with their employer and University.
