Hub and Spoke Model

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) require all Student Nursing Associates to undertake practice experience across a range of services to include:

  • Adult Nursing
  • Mental Health Nursing
  • Child Field Nursing
  • Learning Disability Nursing

The Hub and Spoke method of gaining varied practice experience has been developed by the University of Brighton in agreement with our practice partners. This means that learners are encouraged to follow the patient journey to gain an insight into a range of services which may be involved in not only the simplest of health care interactions but also complex and enduring treatment options.

This Guide to Hub and spoke for SNAs describes how the Hub and Spoke model can be used to enhance knowledge and capture practice learning opportunities across Working across the four fields of nursing
