Diagnostic Radiography Introduction
At the University of Brighton, there are three Diagnostic Radiography courses. Each course has a strong emphasis on the development of practical skills which are crucial to becoming a Diagnostic Radiographer. This is achieved through integration of theory and application of learning in both simulated and clinical settings and through Problem Based Learning.
Through these courses we aim to develop learners to become autonomous healthcare professionals with the necessary skills to practice as safe and effective practitioners (CoR Education and Career Framework, 2013).
As a Practice Educator you may want to find out more about the course content. Please read below a brief description of each Diagnostic Radiography course and a link to the University of Brighton course content page.
BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography

Diagnostic Radiography Degree Apprenticeship- This is currently paused.
Apprentices engage with university study three days per week during academic blocks. During this time there is integration of theory, and application of learning in simulated scenarios. Apprentices will also complete 490 hours of placement hours each year in their workplace and at external placements if required.
This contributes to the minimum of 20% of paid working hours which must be spent on studies and evidenced (off-the-job learning). This is a statutory requirement for apprenticeships and the funding is conditional on this being met.
The standards of Diagnostic Radiography Integrated Degree, that are set by the institute for apprenticeships and must be met by students and work places can be accessed: https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/apprenticeship-standards/diagnostic-radiographer-integrated-degree
