INVITE: Kantine Zukunft Berlin presents its work

This coming Wednesday 26th August 2020, at 12 noon, there will be a public press conference to present Kantine Zukunft [Future Canteen], the flagship project of Berlin’s Senatsverwaltung für Justiz, Verbraucherschutz und Antidiskriminierung [Senate Department for Justice, Consumer Protection and Anti-Discrimination]. The event will happen at Kantine Zukunft’s new work space at Markthalle 9 [Market Hall no 9], one of the German capital’s most exiting food retail spaces.

For almost a year now, Kantine Zukunft has been motivating and training cooks to cook for themselves again, using regional, organic and seasonal ingredients in order to offer more sustainable food in canteen kitchens. From day-care centres to retirement homes, from schools to leisure facilities, from prisons to hospitals – Berliners eat everywhere. The project is a beacon of Berlin’s food strategy which includes numerous measures to establish a more sustainable food system in the city. It is co-run by urban planner Dr. Philipp Stierand and cook Patrick Wodni.

Bohn&Viljoen have been collaborating with Philipp Stierand, Germany’s most prolific food system blogger, since many years.

Die Kantine Zukunft Berlin stellt ihre Arbeit und Räume vor
Von der KiTa bis zum Seniorenheim, von der Schule bis zur Freizeiteinrichtung, von der Justizvollzugsanstalt bis zum Krankenhaus – überall essen Berlinerinnen und Berliner. Die Kantine Zukunft Berlin motiviert und schult Köchinnen und Köche, wieder selbst zu kochen und dafür regionale, biologische und saisonale Zutaten einzusetzen. Bei der Pressekonferenz wird die Arbeit der Kantine Zukunft seit ihrem Start im vergangenen Jahr vorgestellt. Auch die neuen Räume werden präsentiert.
