The Centre for Arts and Wellbeing and the Centre for Transforming Sexuality and Gender would like to invite you to join us for an event to share and celebrate Queer Creative research methods at The Ledward Centre ~ Brighton’s LBGTQ+ Community and Cultural Centre (ledcen.org.uk) . This event warmly welcomes anyone with an interest in creative research methods, including researchers and creative practitioners at any career stage. The event is open to anyone and you do not need to be a University of Brighton staff member or student to attend.

10.15   Workshop with Dr Gil Mualem-Doron, Artist, Founder & Creative Director SEAS – Socially Engaged Art Salon
11:00   Open mic creativity in research (quickfire 3 minute contributions)
11.45   Arts workshop with Gabriel Hoosain Khan, University of Brighton
12.30   Comic workshop with Muna Al Jawd, Brighton and Sussex Medical School
13.15   Round tables, where we will discuss: 

  • What does it mean to research creatively and why should we care? 
  • How can we evaluate creative practice-based research/work exploring wellbeing? 
  • How can we use creative methods in queer research?

If you would like to present your work in the Open Mic event, please contact Helen Johnson H.F.Johnson@brighton.ac.uk with a brief abstract of no more than 250 words outlining how you will respond to the question: How are you using creative research methods? You can speak to this using performance, a poster, a talk, or other innovative methods!
