Research Presentation – “We’ve Always Been Here”: Using Arts to Re-Connect LGBTQ+ Generations

CCTSG member Elle Whitcroft of BSMS will kindly be presenting her research for us.

What do intergenerational LGBTQ+ communities look like? How can we bridge the gap between older and younger LGBTQ+ groups?

This UKRI-funded research project and wellbeing intervention is designed to encourage LGBTQ+ intergenerational connection using a variety of collage, comics, zines, painting, creative writing, and art talking groups. This practice is designed to capture the complex, shifting, evolving nature of LGBTQ+ identities and histories.

Box Breakers: Queer Data, Categories, and Who Counts?

Box breakers live outside the narrow demands of gender, sex and sexuality categories. They are the residue of design practices – what is left behind after everyone else is organised into neat and tidy categories.

This conference encourages UG and PGR students to contribute a short presentation on a theme relating to sexuality, gender and/or the notion of box breaking.
