Associate (external) Membership
Associate (external) Membership of the Centre for Transforming Sexuality & Gender (CTSG) is open to individuals who are external to the University. This includes academics, research students, independent scholars, practitioners, educationalists, activists, creative artists, local and community partners, and others whom may make a sustained contribution to our research areas and projects and who want an ongoing relationship to our research and activities. Associate Members can be based in the UK or internationally and may be promising early-career researchers/practitioners, more established colleagues producing excellent contributions to research and/or practice, or leaders in their fields who are motivated to join and contribute to our vibrant research community.
Benefits of Associate Membership may include opportunities to:
-
- connect with the research culture of the CTSG and develop your research networks.
- work collaboratively with CTSG members such as on a collaborative output or bid/grant proposal development, and co-authorship with CTSG members within the context of an established research centre with supporting infrastructure and a local, national and international profile.
- foster international networks within our shared research areas of interest.
- share your research/practice with CTSG members, and University of Brighton staff and students through the delivery of a talk, workshop, or exhibition (or other similar activity).
- enhance your individual research profile and CV, strengthen applications for funding, and develop your publication track record etc.
- meet other members from across and outside the University at our regular formal events and informal social events.
To Apply:
Please send to ctsg@brighton.ac.uk a two-page CV, a brief bio (50-75 words) suitable for publication on our website, and a short statement (300 words) that introduces yourself and your research/practice interests, explains how these relate to the Centre and outlines your envisaged contribution. The statement should include:
- Your research and/or practice interests and how they relate to the CTSG’s aims and activities;
- How you envisage contributing to the Centre’s work, as an individual and/or participant in one or more research areas (e.g. new grant application, journal output etc);
- A proposal for an activity (e.g. a talk or workshop) to be presented to CTSG members, University of Brighton staff and students, including an approximate timeline for delivery in the first year of membership.
We particularly encourage applications from potential Associate Members working internationally.
Applications are considered on an on-going basis. Approval is made by the Centre’s Management Board. Any enquiries should be directed to the CTSG at CTSG@brighton.ac.uk
We look forward to receiving your application – thank you.
