The ongoing economic crisis in Europe and beyond is usually discussed in more or less technocratic ways that fail to register the choreography of discrimination implicit in its hegemonic administration. An alternative approach will have to focus on a different set of questions: How exactly is subjectivity and collective identification re-shaped and manipulated in Debt Society? How can we account for the technologies of domination utilized in the management of the crisis? And what about the emerging re-actions and the political forms they acquire? Focusing on the experience of the European South can undoubtedly help us register the ensuing explosive choreography and assess the prospects for European democracy.
