School-based training opportunities in partnership with the University of Brighton

Secondary School-Based Training Form

Thank you for considering hosting our secondary trainee teachers in your school.

Our PGCE trainees have two phases of school-based training during their one year course (see SBT1 and SBT2 below) and we are also looking to place undergraduate Physical Education BA(Hons) with QTS trainees for their final phase of school-based training (see SBT3).

School-based Training 1 (SBT1) – PGCE
For PGCE SBT1 you will receive £475 per trainee.

School-based Training 2 (SBT2) – PGCE
For PGCE SBT2 you will receive £325 per trainee

The dates for each SBT phase are specified on the online offer form

We have a specialist team delivering Dance and PE teacher training who will be contacting schools directly to secure these placements seperately.

Secondary SBT 2021/22 form

POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL-BASED TRAINING (SBT)

SBT1 is a full week from 27 September 2021 and then 3 days each week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) until 3 November 2021. Full-time from 8 Nov until 28 Jan 2022 (excluding 1 and 2 December 2021 which are university days). SBT2 is full-time from 21 February 2022 until 27 May 2022 (excluding 27 and 28 Apr which are university days). ** (**please note, due to varying Easter Holiday dates across Local Authorities, we will confirm bespoke Easter break arrangements where SBTs are impacted)
Modern Foreign Languages PGCE trainees can teach their main language to KS4 and their second language to KS3 as a minimum
