Vanessa Patterson

Vanessa has been teaching in primary schools for 14 years after completing a BA(Hons) in Primary Education at the University of Brighton. She has taught across the primary age phases from reception to year 6 and has been leader of English.

She currently teaches part time at a school in Brighton and Hove where she mentors students and newly qualified teachers. She has a passion for the teaching of writing and, in particular, using Talk for Writing within the English curriculum.

Alongside teaching in the classroom, Vanessa has worked with University of Brighton trainees for the past two years across all the primary programmes. She enjoys supporting trainees on their journey to becoming qualified teachers.
