ITT Core Content Framework
From September 2020 all ITE providers are working with a new Initial Teacher Training Core Content Framework (ITTCCF) which builds on and replaces the Framework of Core Content for Initial Teacher Training (2016).
What is it?
The ITTCCF defines in detail the minimum entitlement of all trainee teachers. Drawing on the best available evidence, it sets out the content that ITT providers and their partnerships must draw upon when designing and delivering their ITT curriculum and programmes. It places a duty on providers of initial teacher training – and their partner schools – to meet this entitlement.
The ITTCCF has been designed to support student teacher development in five core areas – behaviour management, pedagogy, curriculum, assessment and professional behaviours.
It is designed in the knowledge that the quality of teaching is the most important factor in improving outcomes for pupils. The ITT Core Content Framework and the Early Career Framework together establish a three-year structured package of support for future teachers.
This power-point summarises what all providers and partners should know about the ITTCCF and Early Career Framework. It includes links to the full ITTCCF and its accompanying support materials.
ITTCCF & Targets and Actions for Professional Action Planning
We are continuing to develop with our partners our SBT curriculum offer and, as a result, we have created a set of generic targets and actions for each SBT period that have been shaped by the ITT Core Content Framework (2019). These have been created to support mentors, trainees and tutors in setting weekly developmental SMART targets and personalised actions that support trainees’ progression through their programme.
