A photo pf Dominique wearing a bright pink jumperDominique carried out a four year teacher training course at the University of Brighton, followed by 12 years of outstanding teaching. She was immensely proud to have joined the University’s education team last year, training teachers to share her passion for inspiring, motivating and teaching children.

Since qualifying, Dominique has been working across schools in Brighton and Hove, and West Sussex – teaching EYFS-KS4, as a Year Group Leader and upholding curriculum responsibility for Maths, ICT, PSHCE, Learning environments and mentoring and coaching NQT’s.

Dominique has recently engaged in Math Mastery training alongside Talk For Writing and has particular interest in learning behaviours. Dominique’s strengths lie in her behaviour management and understanding of how children learn effectively.

Alongside the classroom, Dominique has two young children who have inspired her to learn more about Early Years education. In 2018, intent on adding more strings to her bow, she became an OFSTED registered Childcare Provider studying the EYFS curriculum for preschools and nurseries. This additional curriculum knowledge is now something she can use not only when training nursery practitioners but it is also transferable to Reception. She is passionate about making learning creative and fun for all ages – we all learn best when we enjoy what we are doing.

What can you expect from Dominique as a University Tutor? A mentor who goes above and beyond when working with the students to meet their targets and goals. She creates a supportive environment, making regular contact and is friendly and approachable. She loves to see student’s willingness to take on new ideas, and work with people who reflect and grow in their practice.
