Early Years SBT1 – Employment Setting

Introduction:

For the period of training, all trainees undertaking EYITT must be employed in a setting offering the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This is referred to as SBT1 and is the employer setting. Throughout their training period no trainee will be required to perform more than 90% of the duties normally required of a full-time early years teacher. Therefore it is expected they receive a percentage of their working week as non-contact time.

SBT1 spans the duration of the EYITT course.

At the University of Brighton your mental health and wellbeing is always our priority.

Support for trainees can be found at Wellbeing (brighton.ac.uk) and in the Partnership in Education (PiE) handbook.

Support for anyone in Early Years settings can be found at Early years practitioner wellbeing support – Help for early years providers – GOV.UK (education.gov.uk)
