Early Years SBT 2 – Alternative Age Range Setting

Introduction

During the course of their training, trainee teachers need to be prepared to teach across the 0 to 5 age range (the EYFS). To ensure all trainees are experienced across the age range, they spend a period of time working within an alternative age setting.

During SBT2 no trainee will be required to perform more than 90% of the duties normally required of a full-time early years teacher. Therefore it is expected they receive a percentage of their working week as non-contact time.

The Alternative Age Range Setting will be organised by the School of Education, Sport and Health Sciences Partnership Office and will take place 11th – 22nd November 2024.

At the University of Brighton your mental health and wellbeing is always our priority.

Support for trainees can be found at Wellbeing (brighton.ac.uk) and in the Partnership in Education (PiE) handbook.

Support for anyone in Early Years settings can be found at Early years practitioner wellbeing support – Help for early years providers – GOV.UK (education.gov.uk)
