Amy Hulkes LLB Hons/PGCE

A photo of Amy - she has very long silvery blonde hairAmy has worked in Primary education for over 10 years.

After completing a Law degree Amy decided Law was not for her and she embarked on a year abroad where she discovered her passion for working with children. On her return to the UK she embarked on a PGCE and began her teaching career in KS1.

During her time in the primary classroom, Amy has taught across the primary age phases from Reception to Year 6 and has experienced the many rewards (and challenges!) working with each age phase brings.

Amy has worked with University of Brighton trainees for the past six years, across many of the primary programmes. She believes passionately that trainees make the most progress when they feel supported and encouraged. Also when trainees are guided to reflect upon their practice and supported to identify pragmatic ways forward in order to improve.

Amy also works with the Intervention team at the University, further supporting improvements to practice in the school setting. She is inspired by the enthusiasm trainee and new teachers bring to the profession and considers herself privileged to be involved in their initial teacher training.
