Want a break from the exams? Take some time out to apply for next year’s funding

If you are continuing with your studies next year, now is a good time to think about applying for your student finance for next academic year.

The deadline of 21st June is a way off yet, but this is a good thing to tick off your ‘to do’ list and one less thing to worry about. It also means that your assessment will be ready in time for the start of the new academic year.

You need to apply for your funding each year, whether you are progressing or having to repeat. You also need to make sure Student Finance understand which academic year you are going into as there can be confusion if you had initially thought you would do a sandwich year and now you have changed your mind. It is simple enough to make such changes to your student account, but don’t wait until the last minute as this can cause unnecessary delays nearer the start of term.

You may have to give details of your household income but this is not always the case, so read the instructions in your online account closely. The same applies to anyone supporting your application, ie a parent or partner. SFE don’t automatically require full details and evidence every year.

Here are the non final year rates for Maintenance Loan for the 2019/20 academic year. If you qualify for DWP Benefits, you will receive more.
