Student Advice Service – Money Matters

News from the Student Advice Service at the University of Brighton

National Student Money Week 2016 is coming………

Things always drifting into the red and out of control? Help is here at hand

For 2016, the theme of the week is ‘Students, Money and Mental Health’.

It may sound a bit daunting, but most of us will get stressed about money at some point, and students are no exception. You may normally feel in control of your budget, then something unexpected crops up and things can quickly spiral out of control.

For those with longstanding mental health issues, managing life on a tight budget can seem overwhelming. But it doesn’t have to be. Help from Student Services is on hand and throughout National Student Money Week (8th – 12th February 2016) the Student Advice Service, along with other colleagues from Student Services, will be running a series of events and activities at every campus and online to help tackle this difficult, but very current issue.

If you’re looking for help with planning and sticking to a budget; advice on how to avoid getting into debt; or you’re worried about a more serious problem like gambling, our team of expert Student Advisers will be able to help ease your problems.

But that’s not all, we’ll have lots of tips and ideas on how to have fun and feel better for less and there will be ample opportunity to share your suggestions with us for a chance to win some goodies.

Keep an eye on UoB twitter, facebook campus groups and plasma screens for more information and how to get involved.

If things are getting you down now, you don’t have to wait to come and talk to us next month. Students Services offers a range of advice and support for students through online resources, self help guides and of course over the phone, email and in person. You don’t have to worry alone, so please get in touch. Contact Student Advice Service on 01273 642888, email or have a look here

If not, we’ll see you in a couple weeks
