Israel’s 45 years of occupation has seen more than 27,000 Palestinian structures demolished in East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza and the displacement of more than

160,000 Palestinians. Meanwhile more than 600,000 Israelis have settled in the occupied Palestinian territory.

This talk will be about the work of an Israeli peace group in Palestine, which resists the occupation by helping Palestinians to rebuild homes in order to remain on their land.

Rebuilding homes, assisting families with planning and legal appeals are forms of provocative intervention, almost contrary to traditional architectural research. Investigative research in this situation consists of prodding or challenging rigid and embedded state practices in order to tease out their internal workings. The wider aim of this group is to resist the occupation by exposing planning laws and regulations that allow discriminatory systems to operate.
