The Centre for Applied Philosophy, Politics, and Ethics is pleased to introduce one of our visiting doctoral students Karla Costa, who is joining us from September 2025 to February 2026.

Bio

Karla Costa is a PhD student in International Relations from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is a visiting student at CAPPE between September 2025 and February 2026, advancing her work in a PhD dissertation exploring the emotional dynamics of climate change denialism, from radical denial to an everyday sense of disavowal of the current climate crisis. Her work is supervised by professor Mark Devenney and focuses on the emotional/affective turn in International Relations theory, and how feminist theorizing on emotions can help us understand what emotions do politically.
