The 12 Tips of Christmas – brought to you by Student Advice
Welcome to the Student Advice Service’s 12 (money saving) Tips of Christmas!
From today until Friday 18th December, we will be posting a different seasonal money saving tip each weekday to help you plan ahead and stay on track in the run up to Christmas.
We recognise that this is a financially challenging time for students at the best of times, plus the added complexities of the pandemic and lockdown mean that many of us will feel under a lot of added stress, so hopefully these timely tips will enable you to pause, take a breath and not rush into any rash purchases.
So, to kickstart this campaign, we’re offering you an Adviser’s timeless classic……….
On the first day of 12 Tips, the Student Advice team offers you:
If you’re using public transport to travel home for Christmas, take advantage of early booking discounts. National Express offer extremely cheap advance purchases, as do many of the rail companies such as Southern, Avanti and Great Western. Make sure you read the small print about the flexibility of advance tickets, especially at this time and consider purchasing a 16 – 25 railcard or a young person’s coachcard if it’s a journey you’ll make several times a year.
Safe travels
