News from the Student Advice Service at the University of Brighton

Important message about hardship funds

Do you know about the university hardship funds? These are not loans or bursaries and are completely separate from any funding you may receive from Student Finance England, Wales, Northern Ireland, SAAS, NHSBSA etc

Please read the guidance before making an application to one of the funds as this explains what comprises a complete application as well as setting out the process and timeline. Please have your application checked by an Adviser when you think it is ready as this will ensure you have completed the form fully and you have all of the necessary supporting evidence. An Adviser can also check you are receiving the maximum statutory funding you’re entitled to and offer budgeting advice, which can often alleviate an immediate problem. Advisers can be found at each campus, please click here and scroll down to Student Advice Service to see our locations and times.

Following another successful National Student Money Week campaign, #NSMW17, we have received a very high number of applications to the hardship funds which means that we are currently taking 4 weeks to process them so keep an eye out on your uni brighton email address and if you haven’t heard from us in 4 weeks, please telephone 01273 642888
