Welcome to Money Week 2019. Find out more about our activities this week
The Student Advice Service is once again delivering a Student Money Week campaign and we want YOU to get involved
If you were studying here last year, you might be familiar with our pop up information stands and online advice, competitions etc. If this is your first year of studying here, then this is your chance to join us and ask or tell us anything you like…..about money.
So, what can you expect?
Each day we’ll be posting a different money blog loosely fitting with he national theme this year ‘Breaking bad habits’. We’ll be setting you a challenge to downshift your weekly shop; suggesting ways you your bank can work for you (yes, really!) and sharing tried and tested ways of changing spending behaviours in a positive way.
We are also setting up some pop-up information stalls at each campus this week where you can come and talk to the Student Advisers or money savvy Student Ambassadors. We’ve got a money quiz, lots of helpful information and advice and some interactive activities including (at some campuses) a tombola with some exciting prizes to be won for those of you who take part.
We’ll be asking you to tell us when you feel good and less good about your budget and bank balance and how you might be able to save for those pinch times when everything seems to come at once. This is in the form of a student money seasonal road map, but we don’t want any spoiler alerts just yet…….
On Tuesday and Thursday we’re teaming up with a film crew at Falmer and Moulsecoomb to capture students talking about their finances. We’re making a short film about students for students which will be added to the University of Brighton YouTube channel so if you fancy yourself as the next big vlogger and you’ve got some top tips to tell us about, this could be the launch pad you’ve been waiting for!
Where and when you can find us this week
So roll up, roll up, practice that head shot and we’ll see you there!
Of course you don’t need to just come and see us during Money Week – the Student Advice Service is open all year round with Advisers at each campus ready to help you with funding applications to repaying loans and anything and everything in between.
What else is happening?
Student Finance are also running a week-long Student Money Week programme, so if you have a particular question about your funding application or you (or your parent/carer) wants to take part in an online chat with them, you can check in to one of their surgeries. This will also be extended to live social media Q&As.
