There is a current phishing scam circulating, which we have been asked to alert students to.

We are not aware of the exact details, but latest scam is specifically targeting students and may appear to be sent from an educational institution, government office, Student Loans Company or bank alerting you to update your details. Look for clues in the poor grammar and spelling mistakes. ‘Official’ emails would not address the recipient as ‘student’.

There is more information here: http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/news/phishing-attack-targeting-university-students-may16

The Student Loans Comapny has some advice and tips which can help identify potential scams and phishers: http://www.slc.co.uk/students/online-safety/phishing.aspx. Please report anything suspicious  to SLC direct: phishing@slc.co.uk

Please don’t hesitate to contact Student Advice Service studentadvice@brighton.ac.uk 01273 642888 if you are worried or want to check the validity of any correspondence.
