Research into the student experience of payday loans

Mark via Compfight

The Student Advice Service is currently undertaking some research into the use of payday loans from a student angle, and we are looking for students to share their experiences whether disclosing their identity or remaining completely anonymous.

We try to keep up to date with national trends, but the intention of this research is to help inform our team of Advisers about the local picture so we can look at how we can support students more effectively who may be getting into debt or using payday loans as a budget necessity. We want to be more proactive about prevention and raise awareness about the full range of university hardship funds and the debt management advice we offer.

We have asked students about payday loans in the last 2 Winn Reports (University of Brighton Student Finance Survey) https://www.brighton.ac.uk/ssparc/about-us/publications/index.aspx

Please get in touch with Helen Abrahams if you’re happy to share your story h.l.abrahams@brighton.ac.uk

Thank you
Helen (Student Advice Service)
