We know our students have diverse talents and strengths and we design your learning experience with that in mind.
One way we achieve this is by continually reviewing and refreshing the content of courses and the way that we deliver learning to keep it fresh and relevant.
We have made enhancements to some of our undergraduate and postgraduate courses to:
- Enable more in-depth study of subjects with more opportunities to specialise.
- Embed employability skills and employer links.
- Increase the breadth of science material delivered in the first year of some courses.
This is in addition to the creation of a new sports fitness facility at Ward Hall.
Based on your feedback, we have made the following improvements:
- Word countsYou asked for clarification on word counts for assignments (what qualifies, what doesn’t). We provided a list of elements for what qualifies.
- Mitigating circumstancesYou asked for clearer wording informing you about the outcomes of the mitigating circumstances process. We asked you for more feedback on how emails should be formed. Students are now clearer about outcomes from the mitigating circumstances process.
- Feedback and reworking assignmentsYou asked for further clarity on how to improve work which has not passed. We introduced in-year module retrieval for L4 students. 46% of those who had the opportunity for IYMR engaged with the process, 60% passed their assessment for it, and 42 students went from failing a module to passing it.
