We know our students have diverse talents and strengths and we design your learning experience with that in mind.

One way we achieve this is by continually reviewing and refreshing the content of courses and the way that we deliver learning to keep it fresh and relevant.

We have made enhancements to our undergraduate courses to:

  • Consolidate the way that modules are structured to allow more in-depth study and ensure assessments are consistent throughout the course.
  • Give students choice on how they are assessed in at least one module per year.
  • Provide opportunities for students to contribute to their learning experience.
  • Add a formative task to each module to enable feedback on progress to be provided at every stage.
  • Adjust the ratio of exams and coursework in first and third years.
  • Increase innovation and variety in the teaching and learning in some courses.

Based on your feedback, we have made the following improvements:

  • More space to work and socialise
The middle floor of the Watson Building has been redeveloped to provide bright, spacious and flexible space for students to work and relax within the school’s ‘home’ building. We’re looking forward to working with you to find ways to further develop this space and maximise its potential.
  • Timely and constructive feedback on your work
97% of work in the last academic year was returned to the students on or before the deadline. We’ve continued our approach of providing students with annotations to highlight key points, followed by comments about strengths and weaknesses. We encourage students to speak to your tutor or module lead to gain further feedback.
  • Marking Consistency
You asked for more information on how work is marked and how consistency is maintained. We have produced and displayed posters and sent to links to videos to explain how work is assessed. External examiners stress there is a high level of consistency, without exception, and their reports are available for students to view.
