School of Health Sciences

  • Two podiatry students

  • Students in a practical session

  • Nursing and Midwifery

We know our students have diverse talents and strengths and we design your learning experience with that in mind.

One way we achieve this is by continually reviewing and refreshing the content of courses and the way that we deliver learning to keep it fresh and relevant.

We have made enhancements to some of our undergraduate and postgraduate courses to:

  • Consolidate the structure of modules to allow for more in-depth study.
  • Enable students to select how they are assessed in at least one module each year
  • Embed employability skills into each year of courses.

This is in addition to the creation of two new dedicated nursing skills zones at Falmer and Eastbourne.

Based on your feedback, we have made the following improvements:

  1. Online timetables
You found that the previous timetabling system was confusing - we have completely revitalised this across the university, with the introduction of personalised timetables for all students.
  2. Placement locations
You wanted improved, advanced notification of placement locations to allow more time to work out logistics and financial arrangements. We’ll release this information earlier so you can arrange travel, accommodation etc.
  3. Acting on assessment feedback
We’ve improved feedback on assessments by introducing a system in which you will receive three things you did well, together with feedforward that provides three examples of how to achieve improvements. This provides a clear direction and gives a sound starting point to seek further clarification.
