You asked for more efficient timetables and would like to see an improvement in the general organisation and management of courses at all levels. As a result, we are working closely with the Campus timetable coordinator to ensure that teaching is set in a timely manner to anticipate demands and pinch points in advance, to help minimise changes. We will make sure that correct and up to date information is recorded on timetables as we move toward personal timetables. For 2017/18 we are withdrawing paper timetables; your digital timetable will offer the most accurate information and should be your first point of reference.

Building a learning community
You have said that you feel listened to, but that some comments are not acted upon. We are working to build a learning community with shared values, through the establishment of a listening culture, and recognise that more can be done to communicate actions that are made.
We created the Hit the Ground Running area on studentcentral for new students as a means to orientate with your course and School, and meet each other before physically arriving on campus. We are also working closely with Marketing & Communications to capture and share your successes, and all of our courses are making greater use of social media, such as Instagram and course specific blogs as a platform for showcasing work.
Improving communication of changes
You asked for more effective communication on changes to course, School and University initiatives. We are working with Brighton Students’ Union to ensure there is student representation on School Boards, and establishing direct communication links to course reps and all students.
Your learning environment
You commented on the learning environment at Grand Parade. We have worked with you to make better use of the space available, and significant improvements to workspaces across campus:
- For the start of the 2017/18 year, we have been able to improve the quality of furniture and Audiovisual (AV) for Fashion Communication, Painting and Critical Practice.
- A new space has also been built for 3D Design and Craft studio activity, which is available on a priority booking basis, and a seminar space with AV has also been completed.
- A space has been transformed into a home base studio for the new MA Textiles.
- Visual Communication studios have been refurbished and updated with newly configured, flexible meeting or pop up spaces, large format touch screens and computers.
