Investment in our facilities – Falmer

Checkland Atrium improvements

We have been working over the summer to invest in our facilities to help support and enhance the student experiences, based on feedback you have given us.

These include:

  • Areas of the Checkland building have been refurbished, including several teaching spaces. Checkland Atrium has been completely modernised to offer a vibrant welcoming space for students and staff. There are huts with comfortable seating, power sockets and bold new plants. It’s a place to unwind, socialise and work.
  • Student computers at various points across the Falmer campus have been upgraded.
  • Opening hours at Falmer Library have been increased so it is now available seven days a week, with a new computer room there now open from 8am.
  • Level 2 of Watson Building (formerly Mayfield House) has been refurbished, including the creation of a new student study and social area.
  • Two new dedicated nursing skills zones have been created – one in Falmer and another in Eastbourne.
