Recipe for a medium for printing (block, screen)
Use concentrated powdered dye extract. More info and supplier
Step 1: Make Paste Medium 25g Alum (mordant) 10g Guar Gum or Gum Tragacanth 465g white vinegar Mix these ingredients together.
Step 2: Dissolve the Dye Extracts Approximately 1-10g of extract with 50g hot water. (about 1tsp cochineal, weld or lac, 2-3tsp cutch, 2-4 tsp madder) Madder and cutch benefit from mixing with cold water first.
Step 3: Mix Dye and Paste Together Mix 50g dye solution with 50g paste This will store in airtight jars for a few months.
