Excavator
Mini Excavators have been used on site at Home X. Naturally, as the mini excavator is smaller compared to an average size excavator is has a smaller tail swing, thus its easier to control – perfect for tight spacing in urban areas. However, as it is smaller it can hold a lot less material – a mini excavator can handle up to six metric tons/13,227 pounds (Muth, 2019).
Excavator Attachments
- Buckets are the most common – they are made from steel and their edges are jagged like teeth – ideal for digging and scooping.
- Thumbs are perfect for items that are too large for a bucket to pick up e.g. concrete slabs.
- Breakers are larger versions of jackhammers which can be attached to excavators – they hammer through concrete, rocks, and stone.
