This website is dedicated to documenting the building process of Home X and its construction site.

Home X is located in Preston Barracks, Brighton and is apart of plan ‘Momentum Lewes Road’  – a public private partnership between Brighton & Hove City Council, Cathedral (Preston Barracks) Ltd. & the University of Brighton. Home X is going to provide 57 new residential homes, relieving some of the pressure of the current housing crisis in Brighton. Henry Construction Projects Ltd. are contracted to build Home X. Home X will have a total of 9 levels, with the ground floor being a commercial space and the upper levels being living accommodation.

The architect for Home X is a joint effort between: Studio Egret West, HASSEL, TP Bennett & Stride Treglown (U+I, 2022).

U+I acquired the site in 2014 and have a budget of £300 million to refurbish the once derelict Preston Barracks (U+I, 2022). They aim to rejuvenate Brighton by creating new spaces such as an entrepreneurial hub, a hospital, and accommodation. However, the site is predicted at £200 million GDV – this is a loss (U+I, 2022).

Home X is anticipated to be completed in early 2023 (U+I, 2022).
