Setting up for the new semester

At this time of year new modules are being triggered (created) in studentcental. Now is a good time to begin thinking about your teaching for the next semester. Studentcentral was upgraded in July 2014 and you may want to think about using some of the new features of this improved  version.

Below is a list of useful links to view before the start of the new semester.

In preparing for the new semester we recommend you look at:

  • Preparing new instances for tutors – This post describes the method for triggering new module instances for each new year. How to copy material from a previous instance to the new instance is described. The school office or course administrator will trigger a new module instance.
  • Minimum use of studentcentral for modules – This page is part of the Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) site and provides informartion on the minimum material to  be included in a studentcentral module. When a new module instance is triggered the module template includes content areas based on the CLT minimum requirements
  • Internet Explorer compatibility view and studentcentral – We have found that Internet Explorer version 9 (IE9) has issues displaying studentcentral pages when Compatibility View is turned on (it is turned on by default). This post describes how to turn-off compatibility view.
