Tim Lane, Technical Manager in the School of Art and Media would suggest Neville Staples and Lynval Golding two of the members of the SKA group, The Specials. The music of the Specials spoke out defiantly about Racism and the National Front in the late 70’s early 80’s and the messages in the lyrics unfortunately are still pertinent today.
The Specials were a black and white group their record label was Two Tone, which has a black and white chequered design, a simplistic symbol of black and white unity.
