Marc’s in the top 8%
Professor Marc Cowling has been ranked in the top 8 percent of research economists in the latest monthly rankings of Research Publications in Economics (REPEC).
REPEC tracks publications citations of 48,000 economists across 89 countries in the world and offers a detailed ranking system according to various metrics. The most widely accepted metric is the H-index which favourably weights each economist’s most influential and highly cited papers. In his three years at Brighton Marc has improved his ranking position from the top 12 percent to his current status in the top 8 percent, reflecting the renewed interest in issues around access to finance for smaller entrepreneurial businesses in the post-GFC world.
Marc, Deputy Head of School (Research), is currently extending this research stream to consider the unique problems that innovative smaller businesses face when seeking outside funds for investment.
