School of Business and Law

At the School of Business and Law, University of Brighton, we teach, research and consult across the full range of business, management and law disciplines.

Guest speakers from the retail industry

Guest speakers play an important part in study at the University of Brighton and we invite many influential figures from the retail industry to talk on themes such as:

  • Life as a Retail Buyer (Mothercare fashion buyer)
  • The Commercial Dynamics of Operating a Shopping Centre (former director of Portsmouth Gunwharf Quays Outlet Centre)
  • How the Disney Store Works (project director, The Disney Store)
  • Charity Retailing (former operations manager, Demelza Hospices, Kids Company and St Barnabas Hospice)

All these workshops have proved extremely valuable in giving context and reality to our Retail Management MSc courses.

The Charity Retail workshop involves a practical activity, sorting and pricing charity donations brought in by staff and students, which are then donated to the St Barnabas Hospice Charity.
