Logistics MSc field trips

We believe that field trips make a major contribution to student learning, and our Logistics and Supply Chain MSc students have been taking full advantage of industrial visits to develop their understanding of the concepts covered in the course.

Trip to Jaguar Cars in Birmingham

Recent visits include a trip to Jaguar Cars in Birmingham, where students went on a tour of the plant and had a chance to see their high-tech vehicle manufacturing processes including power presses and advanced robotics. The company gave a presentation on the complex inbound logistics operations.

Workshop at Liz Earle Skincare on Isle of Wight

Students also took the hovercraft to Liz Earle Skincare on the Isle of Wight. The company emphasises natural beauty, and the business has been growing fast. The trip included a look at their online order fulfilment centre and warehouse, and a practical lesson in product wrapping. Students also had an opportunity to chat with managers about the challenges of multi-channel strategy.

On the Jaguar trip, the Logistics and Retail students enjoyed a meal together the night before the visit
