In addition to the technical resources provided by the dedicate vis-comm program’s technical team there are a variety of school wide technical support teams are on hand to provide you with specialist technical support
School of Art and Media shared technical resources.
The TECH HUB
The TECH HUB team are based on the first floor of the Grand Parade Building and manage digital manufacturing services within the School of Art and Media, including laser cutting, 3D printing, CNC routing, Plasma cutting and 3-axis CNC milling. All equipment is operated by the TECH HUB team.
- We provide specialist support for creative software including Adobe Creative Cloud, Rhino, Blender and much more.
- We have a dedicated PC suite with all of the software we support plus much more.
- We have VR headsets, a handheld 3D scanner and a small range of AV kit to support your projects.
The Photo and Video Unit
The Photo and Video Unit is located on the Second floor of the Grand Parade Building and provides specialist photographic and video services. They manage technical facilities including photographic and video studios and black and white darkroom. They offer induction workshops and equipment loans. They support digital, analogue and alternative processes for both digital and analogue practice.
Media Centre
The media centre is located on the third floor of the Grand Parade building and provides media production and presentation equipment which can be borrowed by both staff and students.
The Print Lab
The Print Lab is located on the third floor of the Grand Parade Building and provides High-quality digital printing available up to A3 size, Digital wax-based poster printing up to A0 size, Photo-quality large format printing up to A0 size and Fine art/giclée high-grade archival quality printing up to A0 size.
