Brighton Pride parade! Free T-shirt decorating event, open to staff and students

Have you dreamed of marching in Brighton’s iconic Pride parade? The University has a space in 2023’s parade, with allocated spots for our staff, students and their friends or family.

If you are interested in marching on with the University on Saturday 5 August, you can secure your free spot by attending one of our T-shirt decorating events. You’ll get a free branded T-shirt to decorate, which we will keep safe until the parade.

Who can come to the T-shirt decorating?

Members of our University community, both students and staff, are invited to the T-shirt decorating events. Whilst your non-University friends and family are welcome to join us during the march, we can’t provide free T-shirts for them. However, they are welcome to bring their own plain shirt and join the decorating events.

Where are the T-shirt decorating events?

There are two events, which each run from 10am-3pm – you are free to come and go at any time. The events take place at the following times and places:

  • 7 June, 10am-3pm, The Venue (the Students’ Union bar on Lewes Road, near Mithras House)
  • 28 June, 10am-3pm, Room 304 in Elm House

Why not sign up as a team with your friends, society or colleagues and march together this summer? You can all attend a T-shirt event together; just complete the booking form.

You may also secure a spot in the parade without attending a decorating event but you will miss out on getting your free themed shirt. Email equality@brighton.ac.uk for a Pride parade booking form.

The Pride parade is the historic heart of Brighton Pride weekend, bringing together members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies for a colourful celebration of their pride, whilst recognising the legacy of protest and promoting equality. The parade takes place on the first weekend of August.
