About SOLID

SOLID is a community of researchers and others at, or connected to, the University of Brighton School of Sport and Health Sciences.

We are passionate about research and knowledge exchange that empowers people with learning/ intellectual disabilities to have good lives. Our particular concerns are people’s occupational lives, what they do, how they spend their time and how their meaningful engagement in occupation and activity can be effectively supported.

Many of us are occupational therapists and occupational therapy lecturers, researchers and students, though we collaborate widely with anyone who shares our passion.  This naturally includes coproduction with people with learning/ intellectual disabilities and their families.

In this SOLID blog, you can meet us, find out about our high-quality research and knowledge exchange projects and the real world impacts of this activity.  You will also find links to our publications and to wider resources.

This blog will evolve dynamically to allow us to network and keep abreast of contemporary news and issues related to people's engagement in occupation.

Our Mission
