Latest news from Nepal

Last week Vice-Chairperson Ven. Tsering Lama and Mr Binod Lama of the Jangchup Charitable Organisation, who are responsible for the legal governance of the school, visited Malagiri along with head teacher Yubraj Raisili.

The main purposes of the visit was to take emergency supplies for the families of the Malagiri school children, but also to meet the parents, discuss the education of the children and school situation. The premises were found to be in good condition but sadly schools are not yet allowed to open.

Each family was given rice, dhal, oil and salt which should support them for some while. The families have also grown fresh greens ready to harvest and all being well, other crops should follow.

Binod Lama writes: “We felt good to see the smiling faces of the parents of our school children. Everyone is ok and in good health now. I think the distribution of ration will support them a lot.

“Coronavirus is still not subsiding in Nepal. Two weeks ago the rate of coronavirus was in decreasing trend. But now again the pandemic rate is increasing day by day.

“People are anxious that the third wave may come and damage the economic condition severely.  However the government is trying to purchase the vaccine from different countries.

“We are hoping after the vaccination the rate of corona pandemic will subside.”
