The domestic environment is a place of repetition – making, learning and remaking.
Blanket Statements is a suspended textile work, created through the repetitive act of crochet. The pattern forming the blanket is a coded expression of recipes passed down the female line within my family.
The work signifies my own way of preserving this part of my family history, abstracting a handwritten document to provide a template for a new physical form, with this form being a handmade blanket, and the act of crochet the method which produces the recipe.
