Many congratulations to Jess Mee who successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled, ‘Heat tolerance and acclimation in female athletes’. Subject to some very mi-nor amendments, Jess will be awarded her doctorate. Jess was examined by Professor Craig Williams (Exeter University) and Dr Heather Massey (University of Portsmouth), with a viva 3 hours 1 min in length. The examiners commented on how strong and confident a defence it was, where Jess knew the strengths and weaknesses of her data and recalled with great accuracy the authors and years in which the research papers were published. Well done to supervisors Dr Neil Maxwell and Prof Jo Doust.  Jess secured a lectureship at Bangor University in September 2015, so gaining her PhD is an important step as she forges a career in academia.
