External Engagement in the Curriculum
Today I attended an event looking at embedding external engagement in the curriculum. A recent audit of courses at the University of Brighton found nearly all courses offer their students an opportunity for external engagement, be that work placements, live projects or external speakers coming onto campus.
Increasingly the IT systems are making it easier to work with external partners. Services like studentfolio and EduBlogs allow students to make public facing web pages which can also be commented on. There is more to be done in this area though, to make it easier to provide community engagement both online and off.
My Storify of notes and links from the event follow.
