New role championing local businesses for senior lecturer

Senior lecturer Dr Surbhi Sehgal has been appointed as the new course leader for our MBA course and Senior Leader Apprenticeship.

Surbhi is also a new expert speaker on the Help to Grow: Management programme, and is looking forward to engaging with professionals who wish to advance their career or grow their business.

Successfully completing an MBA or Senior Leader Apprenticeship has helped hundreds of business leaders to further advance their careers. Not only do these qualifications translate into a better remuneration package and improved professional reputation, they also offer a unique opportunity to expand your network and engage with professionals from a variety of sectors.

Surbhi is a senior lecturer in organisational behaviour and human resource management. She holds a PhD in organisational psychology, where her research focused on experience and management of emotions during large-scale organisational change.

Before joining academia, she worked as a senior HR consultant for a boutique consultancy firm, where she managed end-to-end HR projects for several Fortune 500 clients.

“I am working to ensure that the MBA course remains academically rigorous, is aligned with current trends of business landscape and continues to demonstrate positive societal impact. In this role, I facilitate engaging, intellectually stimulating and inclusive learning experiences for students aspiring to be future business leaders,” said Surbhi.

On the Help to Grow: Management course, Surbhi delivers the module on Employee Engagement and Leading Change. She says: “Through my teaching on the Help to Grow programme, I aspire to prepare local businesses to embrace organisational change in ways that champion their business agenda and learn how to create change readiness within their organisations.”

Surbhi has more than 15 years of teaching experience in higher education. She recently won a One Brighton Staff Award in the innovative/inspirational teaching category, and has also been nominated for a Student Wellbeing Award.
