Guest lecture and research exchange with leading critical event scholar
The Tourism, Hospitality, and Events Research Excellence Group welcomed Professor David McGillivray from the University of West Scotland to conduct a guest lecture and research exchange on critical event studies.
Professor McGillivray is a leading scholar in the field, with extensive expertise in critical event studies. He is the co-editor of the Routledge Critical Event Studies Book Series and a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Event Management. His research focuses on events as identity markers, exploring key terms such as communities, public spaces, and dis/abilities in the context of sporting and cultural events. He has worked on numerous research projects, including Festivalsconnect and Festspace, funded by Spirit of 2012 and EU Horizon 2020, respectively.
