Former tourism student gives guest lecture on destination marketing organisations
Lyn Trapano, a former tourism student, visited our current cohort to talk about the purpose of destination marketing organisations.
Lyn graduated from the University of Brighton in 2001 and now works as the Partnership and Visitor Services Manager at Visit Brighton.
She came and spoke to our first-year International Tourism Management BSc students about statistics and trends in the tourism sector, Visit Brighton’s digital and offline marketing campaigns, plus how they work with other stakeholders in the local area.
Lyn also talked about how much tourism is worth to Brighton’s economy, and what types of words work and don’t work when it comes to promoting Brighton & Hove.
As well as talking about her role at Visit Brighton, she also shared advice for students about how to write a CV for job applications, and the types of skills that are important for working in a destination marketing organisation.
