Today was the first day back, and after discussing our projects in groups we were asked to go and work on the parts of the projects that need more development. For me, I first wanted to work on my Ghant chart as I feel I need to be as organised as possible. As well as organising a time for me to work on my blogs as I find it difficult to maintain a good number of blogs. I am hoping to write a blog each time I come into uni and get into the routine of reflecting after discussions such as today’s tasks. In my ghant chart, I want to add more details to ensure I give myself enough time to complete each task. I also wanted to spend today to plan some more of the visual aspects of my project. Reflecting on the last module I feel that I still need to do some more research and experimentation with the types of photoshoots and aesthetics I want to show within my social media. I wanted to use my time to make some mood boards without too much intention with just things I like whether it be styling, colours, photography style and so on. I’m hoping that this will give me more inspiration for when I start creating photoshoots with concepts.

For some more experimentation, I wanted to develop a logo for my brand. I had previously made a logo in the last module, but I wasn’t too pleased with the outcome and felt it didn’t look like the style I was trying to portray. I wanted to experiment with my original idea whilst trying to be more creative. While making my Ghant chart I was inspired to use the grids to make some images. I wanted to start thinking of new ways to create with the platforms and apps I already have.
I was thinking about how I would create labels on my designs and if I could even stitch my final logo into my clothing. When stitching into a knitted piece you usually have to follow a pattern which is on a grid to get all the proportions correct. I thought by using Excel I could do a similar grid technique and make personalised small patterns. In these designs, I was mostly experimenting, but I plan to develop throughout the project.
I decided to look at whether Excel art is a common thing, and I found a few artists who have used this technique. Tatsuo Horiuchi is a 77-year-old artist from Japan, he uses this untraditional technique to create detailed Japanese landscape designs. I loved Horiuchi’s use of colour and how he uses the traditional style and look of landscapes in such a contemporary practice.
Another artist who uses this concept Oleksiy Sai uses the style to showcase his innovative imagination. Sai uses Excel to create patterns and designs with vibrant colours. Oleksiy said on his website; “it’s difficult to access the scale of today’s global culture. Trying to find an adequate visual language to describe contemporary processes I make a series of works in the program which counts the money – Microsoft Excel. Millions of administrators produce their work without coming into contact with reality – and the data I use as elements of visual language can be clearly understood by a person of the corporate culture- perhaps the youngest of the well-defined cultures of humanity.
I loved looking at the different designs and ideas these artists have created with a platform that most people have access to. I enjoyed trying my designs and the idea behind this style of art especially as I am thinking of new ways to be adding to the idea of less consumption including my development of ideas into that philosophy.

Today I made a calendar from today’s date to the submission date to ensure I stay organised and have a clear plan of how I’m going to achieve all my plans before the due date. For this project, I have an extra two weeks for my LSP plan. However, I will be aiming to get my work done by the 3rd of May to give myself the extra two weeks to work and define my sketchbook. On my calendar, I have organised different parts of my project to ensure I have a balance. I have ensured that I have enough time to test photoshoots and videos I have planned whilst also establishing enough time to edit my outcomes ready to be uploaded on my social media. I also recognised that I struggle to keep up with regular sketchbook and blog developments so adding days for just sketchbook, reading, or research has been helping me keep track of all my work. So far this has been extremely beneficial in keeping me organised I have also been adding lots of notes to my planner of what I need to get done on certain dates in preparation for things I may be doing further in the week. Next, I will be making a social media calendar to ensure I am frequently posting and have an active social media presence.

Today I started making my social media calendar, in hopes of keeping me organised throughout my studies. I have tried to keep in mind the other work I will be doing around the time as well as giving myself enough time to edit the content to a high standard. I want to create a social media page with a high-quality standard and well-thought-out concepts for my audience.
my main goal is to consistently post photography and videos that will attract my audience due to me doing enough research. in my AGP675 I began researching slow media which is something I am interested in doing for my social media plan. Slow media is a new style of posting which like slow fashion slows down the mass production of constant media. For my essay module, I looked into short-form content such as TikTok and Instagram reels and the effect it has on the users’ brains. This made my mindset on how I will be putting out my social media to my audience change. I think it is much more important to have good quality and thought-out content that will inspire my followers rather than lots of content which is not good quality. In My calendar I have added in days that I would aim to post by followed by which photoshoot or video I will be posting. I am planning to do multiple posts for photoshoot. For example, I plan to post four separate times for my photoshoot one keeping in mind that some singular posts will having multiple images. This is to add more value to that photoshoot and to avoid having to constantly be trying to create something more impressive as I feel this is not a sustainable process. To take this further, I feel that as my Instagram is a space for inspiration it would be beneficial to my followers to see more aspects to my shoot. This lead me to thinking about including more behind the scenes content on my highlights and stories. I want to create a very engaging platform and I think this would be an interesting way to show my ideas and inspiration to the audience. I would like to look at some other social media pages to see how audiences react in the comments to different types of posts.
My next steps will be to do some further research in my sketchbook into my target audience and what I should be posting to interest them. I began looking into this for my AGP675 sketchbook, but I still feel that it could do with some further development. Understand my audience is extremely important for how I plan to engage with my followers from how much I post to how I talk to them in the comments.

In today’s lesson, we began creating our ideas for our exhibition. I struggled throughout today’s work as I was not sure how I would communicate my brand’s values in a physical experience. As I spent the majority of my time looking for inspiration, I decided to try creating something that could help me in my first photoshoot instead. For my first shoot, I have begun making some plans and inspiration boards. To follow on from my AGP675 research on our disconnection with nature I have been trying to think of some ways I could showcase this through photography. This led me to find an image by … (figure one) which is something I would like to use to inspire my shoot. I used the lesson time to draw out some models on tracing paper in poses I would imagine my model doing. I then explained my concept as well as my inspiration and asked people to draw on separate paper some flowers and position them where they think look the best. Using a light box, it made the drawings come through the tracing paper well. My aim of this was to think about how I will engage with people during my exhibition and how I could start conversations through my art. While talking to people many people add their thoughts to how they would recreate this style of photography, Which was very helpful. As well as including their thoughts on how this could be developed into my final exhibition.

Today I joined Stephany on a photoshoot in the studio for her FMP project. this was a very exciting shoot to be a part of as it’s very different from mine and it was fun to see a project with an aesthetic that is quite opposite to mine. Steph had me come to assist her as well as get as much footage for her behind the scenes as possible. We began by setting up which was interesting as I had not thought of doing shoots with such big props but rather experimenting with lighting. The set-up was very bright, and we had lots of fun decorating the space. This was also a great time for me to get a look into what the studio environment is like as I have not done a shoot in the studio yet. I was able to see how the lights and backdrops worked as well as get an insight into some issues I could face such as makeup, and outfit changes. This ensured me that the best way to face a studio shoot is with as much preparation as possible. Having outfits and hair planned out as well as sketches of certain poses and the lighting effects I might want to experiment with. For my test shoot, I want to make sure I have done some research by watching YouTube tutorials or talking to the staff in the camera department about the different effects I want to create and the best ways to achieve them. As well as testing different ones out to see if I like the lighting with my model or the styling. Preparing for all these things will ensure my final shoot will be as stress-free as possible. Steph’s shoot was successful, and she took lots of beautiful pictures I was so happy to be able to be a part of the team.

today I have begun developing my plans for my exhibition. Going on from my last blog I continued to think of ways I can bring the conversation of our disconnection with nature into a physical experience. I liked the idea of creating a space full of big flowers people can walk around as if they are exploring a garden as a small creature. I thought something like this is very ‘instagramable’ and something to bring more attention to my social media which is important to my brand. as well as it being cohesive to my brands visuals and aesthetics. I do have some concerns as I am coming closer to the deadline, I don’t want to give myself a task that I wouldn’t be able to make to a standard I’m happy with. I also found some brands that have done a similar thing, and I wouldn’t want to create something that has been done many times before. As I continue working, I want to try developing these ideas into something I feel more confident about.

Going on from my last development of my exhibition I have made some big changes. I had been struggling with what experience I wanted to create that would also communicate my brand as a whole. I started by thinking about the topics I have been researching so far throughout my project such as our disconnection with nature but as I started developing that further, I was not too pleased with the outcome. Going on from this I also think that my project can be intense and has a lot going on at once, so I did not want to follow this into my space. Instead, I have been thinking of ways to make a relaxing area that can be an area for conversations or even a space for the people involved to look through my finished outcomes in some way. I am hoping this space will provoke conversation around my subjects and inspire people to start their own creations in a sustainable way. To begin my research around this idea I have been looking at a space created by Charles Renfro. I have been really enjoying watching interviews and writing by him and his team around their work and thoughts around architecture. Renfro and his team are on a mission to create workspaces with the wellbeing of the workers at best interest. The team have been creating peaceful spaces through research in psychology to understand the best environment for the future of workers. I found it really interesting hearing Renfro’s thoughts on furniture and how he placed soft materials to invite the workers to rest and have conversations while on breaks. Whereas in the office spaces he uses more firm chairs and other items to create a space where I worker can be more focused. Renfro always has his client’s mindset in mind when creating his spaces he said in an interview “it’s about bringing lots of strangers together and trying to understand ahead of time how they may or may not interact with one another”. I felt that this resonates with how I want to create my space and what atmosphere I want to create for everyone involved. My main thoughts right now is the environment my space will be in and the fact it will be busy and loud so creating a closed of area would be perfect when having conversation’s on a serious topic. To pursue with this reaserch on Charles Renfro’s work as well as looking into further psychological research to ensure I’m creating a peaceful space as well as looking into colour and the emotions felt when seeing certain colours. To conclude, I am feeling much more inspired by these ideas and my research so far. I am hoping with continuous developments and experiments I will make an area I am happy to present to my class and others.

Today I’ve started looking into more brands that are doing a similar thing to me. Some of the work I’ve looked at have a similar aesthetic whereas others are doing a similar branding plan to me.
A clothing brand I recently found through TikTok called Stevie June. From the first video I saw an immediate similarity in the photo style that I have been looking at. As well as this I think this brand has a similar vibe to me as I concentrate on using mostly plaid materials. Stevie June uses deadstock materials to create timeless co Ord sets, the brand grew a following through their social media such as TikTok and Instagram posts.
The next brand I looked into is called Pinkorange also known as @pinkorange_official on Instagram. Pinkorange is a Dutch clothing brand that is a collaborative space whereby the team introduces new artists each collection with the same subject each time of bringing nature and surroundings as inspiration to their work. The team will find new artists and invite them to the island of Vlieland for a short time and give them the space to feel inspired to create something for the brand. Like my own project this clothing brand is using their own surroundings, nature, and the disconnection we have created between these topics bring it into their work. The Dutch brand named themselves pink orange as a remark to the sunset colours they would often see.
I think it would be interesting if I tried to get inContact with the brands I have found and see if I could ask some questions in relation to their work and some advice in terms of how they use social media to showcase their thoughts on fashion and nature.

Today I have been working on planning for each of my photoshoots in my sketchbook. I have been making sure I am including as much detail, so I am prepared for the day of my photoshoot. This includes sketches, inspo photos, Pinterest boards, hair and makeup plans as well as sketches again. I have also begun watching videos and tutorials to give me a better idea of how I might achieve some lighting effects (fig 1). I have set a day in my calendar to do a practice shoot to allow me to try as much

Today I began looking further into the wool industry. I feel that fast fashion is a topic most people have knowledge about now however the wool industry isn’t something I personally hear talked about that much. As my target audience is a demographic of people that make their own designs I feel that is important that my content gives them knowledge and an understanding of different products and practices to make their designs in a sustainable manner.
I began by reading some articles, this one by Vogue discuses sweaters made from deadstock cashmere.

Today I wanted to take some time to organise and ensure I am keeping update with sketchbook work for the different elements of my project. I recently have been exploring the website called ready mag which discusses different elements and roles within the industry along with some common issues these people face. I was finding myself feeling a bit burnt out so I read the “having a burnout” section which was uplifting.
