My practice and thought process has significantly improved because of the mentoring and practice modules. Also, I feel more capable and knowledgeable about my work.
Please tell us a bit about your work and your influences
I am interested in the narratives generated within ‘the self’; memory, the relationship to nature, and the liberty of the soul. My work explores how colours and forms reveal meticulous dedication to detailed expressions with tones and layers. I tend to delve into my inner self and surroundings, strongly influenced by Bengali women and their everyday life. I not only capture the essence of women’s lifestyles but also contribute to the evolving conversation surrounding culture and its dynamic evolution. My works reflect the ecstasy and melancholy of living moments, embracing diversity, and celebrating existence.
Can you tell us a bit about what brought you to doing a postgraduate degree and this course in particular?
I began my formal art education at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, with a focus on lithography in printmaking. After completing my education in Bangladesh, I relocated to the UK to pursue another MA in Fine Art at the University of Brighton to explore and flourish in the art industry in this country.

Were there any staff who particularly inspired you?
Yes of course. I have found all the staff, and my colleagues are very helpful. To be specific my course leader Amy Cunningham’s always been very helpful and supportive throughout the course.
What does Brighton mean to you now?
Brighton is a lovely place to live. I feel very fortunate that after leaving my homeland I chose this city to further progress. I lived in Brighton for 4 years and unfortunately, I had to leave this beautiful vibrant city because of my partner’s job. Now and I think always I will miss living in Brighton.
What are your plans after graduation?
I always had a dream to set up my own art studio including printmaking workshop. Hopefully, I’ll fulfil my dreams after finishing the course.
Tbh I’m happy to apply for any kind of job which is related to art specifically In the museum and Gallery.
Finally what would you say to anyone considering post-graduate study
To me post-graduation degree is an expensive experience. Student like me who left country at this stage after a graduation and a post-graduation back home however not familiar with the practice and how to progress in the art sector in this country, I believe post-graduation can be a first stepping stone.
